“OFA” (Oxlade From Africa) Listening Party

On Wednesday 11th September 2024, I was invited to attend afrobeats artist, Oxlade’s listening party for his debut album, OFA (Oxlade From Africa), and let me tell you, it was a night.

Oxlade celebrated his soon to be released (20/09/2024) debut album, in the modern luxury, West African inspired, CocoCure Haus. CocoCure Haus is located in the heart of Stratford in East London. The venue which holds up to 200 guests was perfect for the night.

The evening kicked off with Oxlade’s attention grabbing entrance led by 9 young beautiful different shades of chocolate ladies, while everyone cheered him on as he made his way to the main stage.

The host for the night was Lanre Shonubi and after a quick introduction, he wasted no time and got right into the topic at hand.

Oxlade’s debut album, OFA, consists of 16 songs, which includes the international monster smash Ku Lo Sa.

The album track list:

1. Interlude (ft Bobi Wine)
2. Olaitan (Olaoluwa)
3. Blessed (ft Popcaan)
4. Intoxycated (Ft Dave)
5. IFA (ft Dally Ipupa)
6. Ku Lo Sa
7. Ovambo (Ft Flavour)
8. Arabambi
9. Tamuno Interlude
10. Asunasa [Hold Your Waist] (ft Wande Coal)
11. Piano
12. Oloufe (ft Sarkodie)
13. RMF
14. On My Mind (ft OjahBee & Tomi Owó)
15. Katigori
16. OFA

A lot of the sounds were infused with RnB and had that UK feel to it, thanks to Dave. Oxlade talked about his creative process, his inspirations for each song and shared how much this album means to him.

One of the questions that stood out to me was when Oxlade was asked, “What are you most grateful for?” He replied, “1. Life, and 2. The honor of releasing the OFA album.”
That was a simple, yet meaningful answer because we can all relate and understand without going into the reasons why.

In my humble opinion, the album is a bop form beginning to end. Defiantly no skips so it’s perfect for playing the album on repeat in your car or at home while you’re chilling.

I can’t end this without mentioning my personal favourites on the project thus far, starting with my number 1 favourite, then the rest in no particular order, are:

NTOXYCATED (Feat Dave)
IFA (Feat Fally Ipupa)
PIANO
KU LO SA

Overall, I give the album
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Be sure to download, stream and share 'OFA' The Album, which drops on Friday, 20th September, 2024!
