A Night of Culture and Glamour: ASOEBI Festival's International Cultural Gala Night and Awards 2024

Mitcham sparkled with color, culture, and celebration last Friday 11th October, as the much-anticipated ASOEBI Festival: International Cultural Gala Night and Awards 2024 unfolded at the Iconic Chak89 Banqueting venue. On Friday 11th October 2024, guests were treated to an evening that transcended borders, united communities, and left an awesome experience on everyone who attended.

As you approached 105 Bond Rd, the atmosphere was electric, filled with the vibrant colours of stunning traditional attire. With the theme "Where Everyone is a Celebrity” the event felt less like a gala and more like a star-studded celebration where each guest radiated their unique flair and heritage.

The evening was masterfully orchestrated by HRH Princess Moradeun Adedoyin-Solarin the Founder/Visionary of AŞO-ĘBÍ Festival Brand, Executive Director The New Pan-African Movement CIC. A Veteran Broadcast Journalist, Multi-Media Talent, Film/TV Producer, and Media Specialist, HRH Princess Moradeun Royal Host of AŞO-ĘBÍ Festival brought her visionary leadership to life through this event. As a Cultural Ambassador, Girl Child & Women’s Rights Activist and Community Leader, her deep commitment to preserving and showcasing cultural heritage was woven throughout every moment of the night. Her passion for uplifting communities and celebrating diversity made this gala an unforgettable experience.

The Red Carpet was graced by none other than HRM Olori Oluwabunmi Adekeye and HRM Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi The 'ROYAL MATRONS' of AŞO-ĘBÍ FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL, The Royal Guest of Honour was former Mayor Royal Borough of Wandsworth HRH Erelu Lola Ayonrinde Tunwase Ajiun, The Special Guests of Honour were The Worshipful Mayor of Croydon Borough Cllr Kolapo Agboola and his Wife Mayoress Helen Agboola. There was also HRH Duchess Adebukola Adebiyi AŞO-ĘBÍ Festival Programme Director & Chief Host, HRH Princess Toyin Ogunwusi Royal Guest from Ireland; our Formidable AŞO-ĘBÍ Festival Ambassadors, some flew to the UK from Florida, Los Angeles, Trinidad & Tobago, Canada, Jamaica, Ireland & Nigeria. Their majestic presence set the tone for the night. As they entered the beautifully adorned hall, it was clear that this evening was destined to be an unforgettable cultural celebration.

One of the night’s most anticipated moments was the Awards Ceremony, where 14 Individuals and 3 Groups who have dedicated themselves to cultural preservation and community service were honored. Each Award recipient was greeted with roaring applause as their contributions were recognized in front of an audience beaming with pride. Their stories of passion, resilience, and community upliftment touched hearts and reminded everyone of the power of culture in bringing people together.

Heartfelt Appreciation & KUDOS also goes to Hon Ernest Omovbude our AŞO-ĘBÍ Festival Ambassador & CEO of Ernesto Bodycast A top class and highly skilled Bodycast Artist, who kindly Designs & Crafts our Stunning Bespoke-Made Annual Awards.

In addition the Two Annual AŞO-ĘBÍ Festival Special Recognition Awards went to Motown Star & Legendary Singer/Songwriter Ms Gloria Jones as she Celebrated 60 years of her Hit Song Tainted Love & UK's Renowned Leading House Music Groups Heartless Crew were Recipients as well. Another Highlight was the Special Fundraiser Auction of the Autographed Boxing Gloves Personally donated by World Boxing Champion Anthony AJ Joshua towards the Charities AŞO-ĘBÍ Festival 2024 are Supporting. The highest bidders of the Auction & Winners of the Gloves were HRH Prince Mike Abiola and HRH Princess Golda Abiola.

As the evening drew to a close, the room buzzed with joy, laughter, and a deep sense of connection. Attendees lingered long after the final award was presented, swapping stories and networking already looking forward to next year’s gala. For many, this event was more than a cultural celebration. It was a reminder of the beauty that lies in diversity and the bonds we share as a global community, as the Event is held in October during UK's Black History Month Celebrations.
