“Young, African & Famous” (Season 3)

“Young, Famous & African” returns with its highly anticipated Season 3, offering viewers an intimate glimpse into the opulent lives, intricate relationships, and personal growth of Africa’s elite.
As it premiered on January 17, 2025, this season delves deeper into the personal and professional journeys of its cast, blending returning favorites with intriguing new personalities.
The return of one of Netflix's biggest smash hit, drama filled reality series to date and has been trending on social media since its season premiere.

Young Famous & African first hit our screens back in 2022 where the show features a group of friends, who also happen to be some of Africa’s leading socialites, entrepreneurs, and recording artists.

The cast came together from across the continent of Africa to enjoy and live their best lives in Johannesburg, South Africa. From high profile parties, high teas to lunch dates, luxury shopping and now a wedding.
Season 3 kicks off with a lavish wedding between the “Boss Lady” herself, Zari Hassan and her much younger husband, and added cast member, Shakib Lutaaya. Shakib Lutaaya Chum is a Ugandan businessman and social media personality. He is widely known as the husband of Zari Hassan. Shakib and Zari married in 2023 after dating for a year.

Annie Macaulay-Idibia grappled with mixed emotions upon receiving an unexpected invitation to Zari Hassan and Shakib Lutaaya’s wedding, given their tumultuous history.

We met new faces to the cast this season, South Africa’s fashion influencer and business woman, Kefilwe Mabote made her grand entrance at Zari’s wedding, capturing everyone’s attention with her impeccable style and poised demeanor.

Nollywood actress and producer, Ini Edo, joins the show this season. Iniobong Edo is a highly respected actress and producer in Nigeria, where she began her long standing career as an actress in 2000 with her debut movie,Thick Madam. Ini Edo was then discovered by a producer at an audition she attended , which eventually led to her big break in 2004, with her role in World Apart. Ini Edo has appeared in over 100 films since.

Season 1 cast member Khanyi Mbau, makes a brief appearance, two to be exact, due to personal reasons which includes being burnt out and possibly relationship issues.

This season’s cast features some standout personalities, with Annie Macaulay-Idibia frequently at the center of the drama—especially in her complicated relationships with former best friend Swanky and longtime rival Nadia Nakai, who is grieving the tragic loss of her real-life partner, rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes. Despite the tension, there’s something incredibly likable about Annie, making it easy to root for her.

Meanwhile, recording artist and notorious playboy Diamond Platnumz is back to his old ways, flirting with just about anyone he can. Swanky, known for his extravagant and over-the-top style, brings plenty of drama himself, even getting dangerously close to a physical altercation with another cast member. On the other hand, Luis Munana comes across as the misunderstood gentle giant, someone viewers can’t help but feel for.

Rather than saving Zari and Shakib’s wedding for the season finale, the show kicks off with their nuptials, which serves as an effective way to introduce new characters and immediately stir up drama.

It’s hard to say if this season tops previous ones, but the fresh additions to the cast bring new dimensions to the storylines and shake up existing friendships. Unexpected alliances form, and long-running conflicts from season one finally come full circle, allowing viewers to see how much the stars have grown and changed.

All in all, this season is packed with entertainment, keeping audiences engaged and eager for season four. It might not appeal to everyone, but for those who enjoy it, there’s plenty of drama to go around.
