Love Damini is Burnaboy’s 6th Studio album and was released on the 8th July 2022. The album has 19 tracks and a total running time of 1 hour 1 minute.Love Damini features South Africa’s Lady Smith Black Mambazo, J-Hus,Victony, Popcaan, Kehlani, Blxst, Ed Sheeran, J Balvin,Khalid.The producers that worked on this album were; P2J, Danitello, MD$, Telz, Chopstix, Kel P, Kvng Vinci, Amilcar Smith Anju Blaxx, Ashton Sellars, Skread, ATG, The Monsters and Strangerz and FNZ.
My personal favourite tracks keep changing the more I listen to the album, however on my initial listening the songs that stood out for me almost immediately were; Science, Cloak and Dagger, Whiskey, its Plenty, Toni- Ann Singh, Wild Dreams. As time went on I started to appreciate other tracks on there like, Solid ( Kehlani & Blxst), For my hand (Ed Sheeran), Different size (Victony).
Its quite clear to see Burna’s evolution on this album, the album showed a side to Burna we don’t get to often see, his vulnerable side.On the final track of the album Love, Damini ( feat Lady Smith Black Mambazo) He sings; ‘Ayy, yeah, there’s things that I hardly say, How you been mama? How’s your day?I should talk to my grand daddy more before its too late, Listen more to things that Roni says, Should have talked to Sound Sultan more before he f**kin’ died, I should show more love while they still alive.
On the same track he talks about trying to make changes ‘Yes, I agree, Im a start makin changes, yeah Tryna be a better man, I been tryin, I got it all, but I still got my anger been workin hard tryna get rid of my anger.
This album is another great one from Burna boy. Its slowly gearing up to be one of my favourite Burna Boy albums thus far.
